Sam likes to invent tools, I like to use them. I've been using lots of Sam's inventions for a long time.
All of the workbenches, sawhorses, multi-purpose tables, tool mounts and assorted other kinds of benches that Sam created over the years to perform many different tasks (and there were a great many...) were eventually distilled into the LEVEL-it®. For all of these benches he built we’d realize, sooner or later, that the LEVEL-it® already performed that task or function, or it was a feature that could be added to the LEVEL-it®. So we all came to realize that LEVEL-it® really is the one workbench/sawhorse that does it all!
Here in the good old US of A we have a long tradition of inventors who are able to work out of the places they live in. In recent times Hewlett-Packard and Apple Computer are among the companies that were started in home workshops or garages. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, to name but two, also made ample use of home shops. In Sam's case he is very apt to wake up in the middle of the night and go out to the shop or into the office to work on some idea that comes to him. He likes to do all his research and development at his home shop. This seems to be what many inventors do here in the USA.
